Reflections
Ever since I heard the story of Shlooli (שלולי, מירה מאיר), I tried finding my own Shlooli in the ponds. I would come near them anticipating, looking at the bright reflections of the tall Eucalyptus trees that grew all around. However, by the time I got to a pond, all I could see was the black asphalt underneath it. If I ever managed to see a reflection of something close, it was never a bright image, but a dull shade.

Other authors have used this trick of pond-reflection as well. Hans Christian Andersen's Ugly Duckling sees his own reflection in the water, only to realize that he has turned into a wonderful swan. Selma Lagerlöf's Nils Holgersson checks his image in the swamp water after he his body swells due to ants stings. Lea Goldberg's and Ari Ron's Pluto
even jumps into a pond chasing his own reflection.

All those heroes actually see something. Have any of these authors actually tried looking at their reflection in a pond?

Now I know that it is physically impossible to clearly see your own reflection in a pond. The amount of reflected light off a specular surface is proportional to the viewing angle. It is a Physics law that a five year old could have discovered.
